How We Roll


We don’t boast in degrees, seminars, workshops, or courses (though we do have training certificates and offer various learning opportunities). We simply focus on the individual need of each client. We love CrossFit and what it has done for us individually and for the fitness community, but we recognize it is not the only source for a great life, and it may not fit perfectly for every client’s fitness needs at every skill level. That’s why we tailor our programming to each person’s needs. Every person needs a broad framework from which to start, which is what CrossFit provides. Then each person needs individual detail, which is what CrossFit Old South tries to provide within that broader framework.

For instance, some people don’t have the mechanics or physical makeup to try certain lifts. Others may never even hang from a pull-up bar, much less attempt a kip. Instead of focusing on what a person can’t do, we strive to point out and encourage individuals in what they can do, while helping them improve. At the core of our programming, we focus on postural alignment, mobility, flexibility, and core control--things every person can improve and that will improve everyday lives. Every rep may not be flawless, but we aim to help every client improve form and function as they work and progress. We constantly teach virtuosity, mastering basics first, mental preparation, and fault preparation, as well as how to avoid faults.

We also aim to help advanced clients progress to higher levels of competitive effort. While continuing to stress the fundamentals, we help those of higher fitness and skill levels push themselves and master their form and techniques in order to reach their highest potential.

We have clients at all levels of fitness and from various walks of life: from stay-at-home moms, to firefighters, business professionals, teachers, coaches, college and high school athletes, and competitive athletes. We also have clients from a wide range of ages: from thirteen-year-olds training with their parents to eighty-year-old grandparents!

We truly are fans of any type of fitness, and that in and of itself is why we chose CrossFit. It offers a wide blend of various fitness models which makes for a more well-prepared and well-rounded individual, regardless of their ultimate fitness goals. In addition to our regular classes, we offer various seminars through the year that cover a spectrum of topics--such as flexibility, Olympic lifting, jump rope, and gymnastics--to further improve skill in particular areas.

Owner, and Head Trainer, Jason Daniel has a CrossFit Level 2 Certificate, CrossFit Mobility Seminar Certificate, strength-specific Olympic Lifting Certificate, and Crossfit Games Regional Competitor.  All of our trainers hold CrossFit certificates, and many have additional fitness certifications as well. Each trainer simply wants to share their blessings and their learning with others to help each client reach their goals.

In the end, we at CrossFit Old South aim to teach. We aim to help each of our clients grow and improve physically, spiritually, and mentally. All of us--owners, trainers, and clients--work together to encourage, to help, and to teach so that each of us can live to reach his full potential for greatness.
